CANNES -- Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all donated their salaries for major cameos in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus to a trust fund for Heath Ledger's four-year-old daughter Matilda Rose, director Terry Gilliam confirmed yesterday. The donation had been rumoured for weeks.
"The real thanks has got to go to Johnny, Colin and Jude," Gilliam said of their help finishing the film by playing three different incarnations of Ledger's role of Tony. Ledger died half way through the London shoot.
"They were all involved in other projects and they came to the rescue of this thing. And they did it solely, basically, for nothing.
" The monies they would have been paid went to Matilda. So, to me, they're the real heroes. They're extraordinary."
