CANNES, France - Canadian animator Cordell Barker's short film about a driverless train is a hit with French railway workers at the Cannes film festival.
"Runaway" has won the Petit Rail d'Or award for best short film.
The award is presented annually by a group of railwaymen who attend Cannes.
The nine-minute film is about a driverless train careening over bumpy tracks, its passengers oblivious to impending disaster. When the train breaks down, a class struggle ensues.
The Winnipeg-born Barker is also behind the Oscar-nominated films "The Cat Came Back" (1988) and "Strange Invaders" (2002).
"Runaway," a National Film Board production, will also screen at the International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France in June.
