{allmovies} 'Ramona' star is ready for wackiness

Anyone familiar with Beverly Cleary's novels — and really, who isn't? — knows that her young protagonist, Ramona Quimby, often finds herself in the stickiest of situations.

And for Joey King, who was just tapped to star in 20th Century Fox's adaptation of Beezus and Ramona, the first in the Ramona series, finding that zaniness won't be such a stretch.

"You know how Ramona is funny, hilarious? I do have to say myself I am very funny. … I am so wacky and I do the craziest, silliest, funniest things," says King, who has appeared on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and CSI. "Sometimes I just break out dancing."

King, 9, will star opposite Disney teen star Selena Gomez, who plays Beezus, Ramona's older sister. Elizabeth Allen (Aquamarine) directs the film, due March 19, 2010.
