{allmovies} Mr. Big open to 'Sex and the City' sequel; signs on as One Night Live host

TORONTO - Will there be more onscreen fireworks between Big and Carrie?

Actor Chris Noth says he'd be open to appearing in the next "Sex and the City" movie, now that the four female leads have signed on for a sequel. "I don't know if I'm in it or not. I haven't been approached," Noth, who played the dapper Mr. Big in last year's blockbuster film and the hit HBO series, said Wednesday in an interview.

"I'm waiting for them to tell me," added the Madison, Wis.-born star. "I'm like: 'OK, you've got a movie? Well, let me hear from you."'

Last week, New Line Cinema confirmed that "Sex and the City" stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have signed on for a sequel to the hit movie that saw Big and Carrie tie the knot.

New Line said writer-director Michael Patrick King has also agreed to the project, slated for a summer 2010 release.

If Noth does get asked to reprise the role of the rich heartthrob, he said he would agree to it "if there was a part there that I felt had sufficient need of me."

"I always have a good time," Noth, 43, said of playing the role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2000.

"It's a great thing for me because I have to get in shape for it - have to go into training."

Noth, who splits his time between New York and Los Angeles, was in Toronto to announce he's hosting the upcoming One Night Live concert in support of Toronto's Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

The May 21 show at the Air Canada Centre will include performers Sting, Sheryl Crow and the Canadian Tenors.

Money raised goes toward the hospital's women and babies program, which Noth visited during his spin through the city.

He called the program "a gift from heaven" and said Canadians should be proud of it.

"In the United States, families that have pre-term babies go broke - broke, literally - trying to care for their child," noted Noth, who played Det. Mike Logan on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Law & Order."

Noth said he identifies with the cause because he and his partner, Tara Wilson, thought their son Orion, who's now one year old, would be a pre-term baby.

He also has strong ties to Ontario, having owned a shop called Once Upon a Teacup for over a year now with Wilson in Windsor, Ont.

The family-oriented business offers a menu of tea, scones, finger sandwiches and cream puffs, and there is an area that kids can play in.

Noth said he and Wilson, who is from Windsor, are in negotiations to expand the business to London, Ont., and hope to later franchise it in Montreal and Toronto.

Negotiations are also under way to bring the off-Broadway political drama "Farragut North" to Los Angeles, said Noth, who plays a campaign manager in the play.

With his interests stretched in so many different areas, and with a little boy who has "a lot of energy," fatherhood is a bit of a challenge, Noth admitted.

"I came to (fatherhood) later than most people, so it was scarier for me dealing with the sleeping thing - she deals with it more than me," he said of Wilson.

"I'm like: 'I will earn the money for the family but I will sleep a little later for it,"' he said with a hearty laugh.

"These things must be."

Last year's One Night Live concert featured Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Bryan Adams, Jann Arden and RyanDan and raised $12 million.

Tickets for this year's event go on sale this weekend at www.onenightlive.ca and Ticketmaster.
